- Experience the boundless creative inspiration that results from meditation
- Focus and clear your mind
- Tap into an intuitive flow
- Rekindle your aspiration for music and/or singing
This lively interactive class will include simple chanting, meditating with music, and group singing (no talent required) of a simple meditative melody while the instructors perform on musical instruments.
Who will benefit from this session? Musicians and music lovers–from beginners to seasoned artists–looking for inspiration to deepen their artistic journey through meditation.
The workshop is based on the teachings of spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy,
who was also a prolific artist, writer, poet and musician.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
The Meditation & Creativity series (including this music-focused session) is led by three accomplished artists who have also worked extensively in visual arts, writing and music. Each of the facilitators has a long-standing meditation practice and is active in multiple artistic and service events. Having offered this series in venues around the world, the instructors have been lauded for their supportive, inspiring approach to helping others express their own intuitive creativity.
Papaha Gosline first began practicing meditation with Sri Chinmoy more than 30 years ago at the beginning of his career as a professional artist. Combining these two disciplines, he is currently focused on large oil pastel drawings, sculptural installations, and site-specific digital projections with meditative sound and music. He is also enjoys creating and performing music on the flute and EWI (electronic wind instrument.) Papaha is the creator of the 3-part Meditation & Creativity class series (of which this session on music is one component). He lives in San Diego.
Kundana Johnson became a student of Sri Chinmoy in 1984 after a profound inner awakening. He studied Classical and Jazz piano and performed in schools, musical theatre, and concerts. He frequently performs Sri Chinmoy’s music in instrumental and vocal groups and he continuously aspires to experience soulful consciousness in music. Kundana lives in Burlingame, CA.
Astika Mason, a meditation instructor and long-time student of Sri Chinmoy, will also join the session. His book of short stories A Dream Immortal: Seven Tales from Seven Realms will be available in bookstores soon.
